Existing Album Cover

This is the a cover of the CD for a single from Ellie Goulding. I like the fact her face is on full display and is something I may choose to do with my album cover. It draws attention to the artists image which is an important part in the music industry today. The fact they have chosen to use the artists face on the cover shows they are promoting her self as well as the music. Audiences are more attracted to not only what they hear but what they see. She has not been over done with the image front choosing to wear light make up showing shes not too out there and is confident with her self.  The artists name has been made bold and is most likely to be in a font that will remain that way on all things related to the artist. This is something most artists do in order to be regognised by an audience. As Ellie's music is a mixture of two different genres the cover has reflected this with a mix of glamour as well as a natural look of the artist. The image is also similar to one of her music videos which is something the audience will regognise.

This is the album cover I am using as my inspiration for mine. Most CD covers that have a close up of the artists face show their eyes open as its a way of connecting with the audience. The fact that Rihanna has her eyes close may connote that she has something to hide and she is being misterious. Shes effectively not letting anyone connect with her and is putting all her representation down to her music. However some of her representation is shown here. Her big eyelashes and red lips show her girly side but then her tatoo on her neck could connote her fiesty side. For my album cover I am thinking of using an image of my artists eyes closed as it gives more of a hidden meaning. The album will be fully focused on the music and not the image but the audience are still drawn in. Even though she has her eyes closed the image is still striking enough to grab the audiences attention.
